Most “best of” lists are long because long lists earn more clicks. Ours are short because short lists are more useful. Each shortlist starts with one specific problem: a counter that is 60 cm wide, a drawer that never closes, a weeknight where dinner has to happen in twenty minutes.

We compare specs, read through hundreds of owner reviews, watch for the complaints that repeat, and keep only the products that solve the problem without creating a new one. We also say what each pick is not good at, because the trade-off is usually what decides.
